Why Advocacy?
MIDDAY's mission is to cultivate a new generation of dance leaders, but artists' skills - and success - cannot exist in a vacuum. If artists are to succeed, we must be civically engaged on a local, regional, and national level; however, artists are not usually taught how to become involved. Sound like you? You've come to the right place!
MIDDAY has partnered with Studio@550 to form Creative Action, an advocacy program geared toward artists who are new or new-ish to civic engagement and advocacy. Our campaigns aim to activate by providing three things:

MIDDAY has partnered with Studio@550 to form Creative Action, an advocacy program geared toward artists who are new or new-ish to civic engagement and advocacy. Our campaigns aim to activate by providing three things:
- Context: our educational resources aim to help orient folks with political structures and relevant history;
- Framing: our questions and action items let you know what we think are the necessary next steps, why we think they're important, and what they'll accomplish;
- Involvement: from attending local meetings to signing petitions, our calls to action and event announcements provide easy ways to get involved!

Thursday, Feb 25, 2021 — Cambridge Arts held an Arts Forum, the first of a series of conversations for artists to ask their questions and learn about resources available for artists and cultural organizations. Speakers included representatives from Cambridge Arts, Cambridge Public Health Department, the Cambridge Community Foundation, Central Square Business Improvement District (BID), and Mass Cultural Council.
Marissa Molinar (MIDDAY Director) and Jean Dany Joachim (Cambridge Poet Populist, 2009-2011) co-moderated.
